Rajiv Arora started Amrapali, in 1978, in Jaipur. He laid the foundation of the company by collecting old pieces from remote interiors of India. He used elements of Ethnic Indian Jewelry in his designs and revived the traditional methods to incorporate in his pieces, in order to create a design language distinct to Amrapali.
Rajiv Arora, has been designing original pieces in a blend of contemporary and ethnic art forms. Amrapali was the official jewelry designer for Femina Miss India pageant since 1996 to 2003. Diana Hayden (Miss World 1997), Yukta Mukhi (Miss World 1999), Priyanka Chopra (Miss World 2000) and Lara Dutta (Miss Universe 2000) have adorned Amrapali creations.
Amrapali has designed exclusive pieces for Bollywood movies like Rog, Paap, Sadiyaan, Kajrare, Raavan and recently Bahuballi-2 & for Hollywood movies like The Far Pavillions, Troy and Valley of Flowers, an Indo – French venture.
Amrapali showcased its design collection at the Olympus Fashion Week 2006 in New York, on first day of the event.
Rajiv Arrora had rare honor of designing gifts, which were presented to the former US President
Mr. Bill Clinton on behalf of Rajasthan Government.
Today his company Amrapali, has showrooms in Jaipur at Panchbatti (Flagship Store) and at
Rambagh Palace, Jaipur along with New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Jodhpur and two outlets in London and an Office at New York.
Rajiv Arrora presides over various trade promotional bodies of Rajasthan and has actively involved in promoting tourism and trade.
He is the National Chairman of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (Gems &
Jewelry), Chairman of Indo American Chamber of Commerce (Raj. Chapter) He is been
elected as the President of Federation of Rajasthan Exporters (FORE) for three consecutive
terms.
He is the Convener of Gold & silver Jewelry Exporters Association, Patron of Oxidized
Silver Jewelry Manufacturers Association and he was the Secretary of Rajasthan ‘Sarafa
Sangh’.
He was the member of Central Board of Film Certification (Censor Board) (Govt. of India), 20 Point Program Implementation Committee (Jaipur), and Advisory Board of Crafts Museum (National Handicrafts & Handloom Museum) .
He has been conducting many seminars to make “Jaipur a World Class City”. Elected as the President of Environment Science & Technology Dept., Rajasthan, he has also represented Indian Youth Congress at Moscow- in World Youth Festival.
In order to help Jaipur to gain the prestigious place in the most beautiful heritage cities in the
World, he became the founder member of the Jaipur Virasat Foundation.
Jaipur Virasat Foundation (JVF) works with and for traditional artists in Rajasthan, a state rich in historic habitations, traditional arts, crafts, and cultural resources. It has pioneered a holistic, culture based up on cross-sector approach to livelihood generation through its various activities,
events, advocacy forums and networks, always trying to employ specialist skills and best practices.
He is the Chairperson of Jaipur Citizen Forum which is a charitable trust aiming to become a
platform for Jaipur Citizens. JCF plans to contribute for the city to promote & protect
heritage, arts, culture, education, technology, sports etc and bring Jaipur citizens on a common
platform to contribute for their own city.
He is also the Chairperson of Jaipur Heritage Citizens Festival Committee and former President of Federation of Rajasthan Tourism Society (FORTS).
As the Chairman of RTDC he made sincere efforts to develop Jaipur as the first heritage city
in the country. To develop heritage properties, the State had launched the land-bank scheme
to enable private parties adopt the properties and develop them. Several incentives were also
being offered to investors by tourism industry. Special tariffs in hotels were offered to cater to
the needs of different segments of people. As this was an age of packages and marketing,
efforts were on to develop lesser known tourist destinations in the State.
In addition, during his tenure as Chairman of World renowned Luxury train Palace on Wheels was a tremendous success with 78 per cent occupancy.
